Students playing a game during the 2025 pep rally
The Buena Vista High School cheer team hosted a pep rally at the football field on September 25 from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. to kick off the Homecoming game, tailgate, and dance. The event was held to boost school spirit not only for Homecoming but also for the rest of the year. All grade levels were present, filling the stands with excitement and energy.
The cheer team organized the pep rally and invited the dance team and color guard to take part. From cheer and dance routines to interactive games, students could feel the buzz of Homecoming in the air. The rally opened with the Bison fight song as the color guard waved their flags. After students settled, the cheer team performed one of their first routines of the year, setting the tone for the afternoon.
Next, students participated in a spirited game where players used pool noodles—one with a cup attached and another to knock cups down. Laughter and cheers filled the stadium as students competed until only one champion remained.
The color guard followed with a powerful performance that energized the crowd, and the cheer team returned with another routine to pave the way for the dance team. Their performance kept the festive momentum going, leading into a cheer-off between grade levels. While sophomores, juniors, and seniors brought plenty of noise, the freshmen were noticeably quiet, like little mice. In the end, the seniors came out on top, cheering the loudest of all.
The rally closed with reminders about Homecoming events before teachers dismissed the students. Everyone left the football field buzzing with anticipation for the dance and looking forward to more exciting moments throughout the school year.
