As the year comes close to an end, think back to the hot summer days hanging out with friends at the pool or basketball court. Or maybe the spring when you’re in school when you’re in school with your AirPods in, walking gracefully through the halls. What were you listening to?

Released in November of 2022, PinkPantheress “Boys a liar” single was a major hit earlier this year.

Even though it was released the year prior, it became very popular with the feature of rapper “Ice

Spice” added to the single.

The song was heard everywhere on TikTok and other social media platforms. Mostly everyone knew the song and there have been several staff members to get down with the song. The music video sits on YouTube with 175 million views.

Another artist with a great year was Brent Faiyaz. His 2022 album “WASTELAND” was another

major hit in 2023. Songs like “JACKIE BROWN”, “DEAD MAN WALKING”, and “ALL MINE” are songs that

are continuing to be used greatly on social media.

 The portrayal of Faiyaz’s vulnerable thoughts and emotions is what made WASTELAND an instant hit.

Though short, the hour-long album contains music that will make your feet tap and your head bop. Faiyaz also dropped the album “Larger than Life” but it hasn’t been as popular this year as WASTELAND has.

A favorite of most at Buena Vista, NBA young boy, has seen great success with his 4 albums dropped just this year, each one having at least 2 masterpieces.

 The first one being “B**** Lets Do It” from his album “Richest Opp”.

The upbeat song keeps a fast pace and was heard around almost all basketball courts, football fields, and barbecues this summer. Richest Opp contains 17 songs and is 49 minutes long.

The next song from YB is “Now Who?” from the album “Decided 2”, the sequel to “Decided” released in 2018.

The song is medium to high-paced with an almost sad flow to it. Decided 2 is full of songs about love, loss, pain, and regret.

The final song chosen from NBA Young Boy is “Black” from his album “I Rest My Case”. Black is a more

rockstar type song as is the rest of the album.

With a great year of music, artists, and culture there will likely be no more albums released by

these top-tier like artists listed above. These are a few of the amazing songs they have done this year.
