One little thing could change your life
Opinion: The art of trying new things

In life, once we think we’ve figured out the things we enjoy, we often seek to live contentedly and comfortably in a repeating routine. Maybe that’s reading a book, staying up late until 12:00 am, or settling for Cs in our grades.

Granted, once you know what you like, it’s certainly hard to try something else; something new. Especially if it’s something you have never done before.

There are many things in this world that we can do if we are willing to learn. We are born into the world with virtually no skills, but in a few short months, we learn to walk. Then it’s quickly onto complex learning in school with Math, Science, Social Studies, English, and other subjects.

We can always learn something every day, but trying new things takes a little bit of an extra step.

Trying new things can definitely be scary sometimes. This is because people are afraid of getting something wrong or failing. Failing is something that most don’t like doing.

They see failing as a “bad thing”, which is very far from the truth. Yes, failing isn’t as good as succeeding, but we must understand that failure helps us grow. Failure helps us learn.

“Don’t worry about failures; worry about the chances you miss when you don’t even try,” explains Jack Canfield, New York Times bestselling author.

Trying can result in success with mostly failures. However, failure is a major key to success.

Failing is the steppingstone for success across the river. But in order to fail at something, you have to try something new.

Comfort zones are called that for a reason. If you always feel comfortable, you will never experience anything more than that. Little things, big things, anything.

“Just try new things. Don’t be afraid. Step out of your comfort zones and soar, all right?” states former First Lady Michelle Obama.

Soar you will. Embrace the new and exceed the old.

Whether it may be a small thing or big thing or something in between, try something. Just try something. Something new and out of the ordinary. Something you’ve never done before. Something that’ll benefit you, because when you try that new thing, it will take you far.

You will grow, you will learn, you will fail but you will succeed one day. The habit of trying new things is healthy and human.

Try even though it’s hard. Try even though it’s scary. Try even though it will take a long time, because if you start now. If you start now…it will be better for you in the future.

It will transform your life, transform your spirit, transform your mind, and body, and make you the best version of yourself you can achieve.

It can be fun or helpful for you in the long run.

You’ll be better than how you were yesterday. You’ll have made more progress than you did before.

Keep the what-ifs, hows, and buts out of your mind space.

In your own mind, think of how you’ll be and feel when you succeed. How great it will be.

Always try something new and don’t fear change.
