Our Buena Vista junior varsity player, Mason Torres, holds the record for the most goals scored by the BV girls’ soccer team in the 2023-2024 season.
Mason has been playing soccer for ten years and expects to continue throughout his high school years. He plays as a striker and feels the pressure associated with that position. Nevertheless, he wouldn’t change it for the world.
Torres’s coaches all had positive things to say. Taylor Pensick, Laura “LB” Nelson, and Nelly Alvarado described him as a “go-getter,” always staying calm and collected, never afraid to attack the goal, and a coachable player. These are four ideal skills for a striker, making their job look easy.
His calm presence is appreciated by both his coaches and teammates. Torres gives a lot of credit to his family for motivating him to continue playing soccer. He’s grateful to his dad for keeping the soccer spirit alive in their household. When Torres is on the field, he always has his father in mind. Mason shares that their family has a tradition of attending his and his brother’s games.
Despite having five amazing coaches helping him succeed, Mason remains loyal to his father, his first coach. He looks forward to his father’s attendance, feedback, and support.
Mason is a highly valued and appreciated teammate and starting player for the girls’ soccer team. We can’t wait to see more of our #11 in action.
